The following is a list useful links that I have compiled. If you have a web site and wish to be added to this list, please send me an e-mail. For those sites which are Shilo related, please let me know if you find either errors or a problem with any of the pages during your visit there. I have checked all these links and they work.
Our Stuff
NEW!Reunion 2002 - The Sixties Crowd
At last! Pix from the reunion...well at least of the sixties group anyways. It's been a tough slog but the site is up and running. I'm surprised more people did not send pictures. Very little at all has been sent from the 80's people. Posted 29 SE 02
NEW!Reunion 2002 - The Seventies Guys
Kids these days. I dunno..they are all brats...especialy this crowd. Sorta like the Sixties crowd in fact. Took a lot longer to get these links up and running because I missed one bracket and one apostrophy in the markup and it took me two weeks to find the error!
Year Books Condita 62
The rarest yearbook of all. It's the very first one ever to come from the school. Although flawed in a lot of ways (missing names and wildly varying photo quality) it is a rare glimpse into the lives of those who started a new tradition for PEHS. Thanks to Zoe Fowler and Glen McClean for this truly great addition to the site! Posted 16 JUNE 02 Condita 63
Yet another work from the collaberative minds of Zoe Fowler and Glen McClean. It's not a big yearbook, but the image quality is better than anything I have seen yet. Posted 16 JUNE 22
Condita 65
Finally! &npsp; It's the 1965 Condita Yearbook. This time you get the whole uncut, uncensored yearbook folks. Bare knees and all!! I've figured out a new way of doing this.
Condita 66
This is the 1966 PEHS Shilo yearbook. Many thanks to Glen McClean and Zoe Fowler for helping to bring this to you. I couldn't have done it on my own.
Condita '67
Brought to you by that bubbly and enthusiastic young lady Cheryl McNeil...here's the 1967 Condita Yearbook.
Condita 68
This is the 1968 PEHS Shilo yearbook. The site is graphic heavy due to the number of photographs, so those of you with dial-ups or slow modems may experience long load times.
Condita '69
As promised, here is the 1969 yearbook as submitted by Debbie Coughlin and her hubby.
Condita '71
It's not my fault! Patrick "Paddy" Hogan made me do it....so here's his yearbook. Posted 17 May 02.
Condita '74
Brenda Douglas the Scanner Queen is at it again with yet another fine addition to the site for you to enjoy. Posted 27 May 02.
Condita '75
Move over gang...the 70's are here With Brenda LeBlanc's submission of the '75 Yearbook. Looks awsome and is the largest yearbook site I have built to date.
Condita '76
You bet your sweet bippy it's the '76 yearbook. A few minor instructions and Brenda Douglas is now a Scanner Queen. Have a look. It's surprising how many of my teachers are still there!
Condita '77
Brenda is gonna wind up killing me. &npsp; Who knows where the yearbooks came from....but she blasts me with a ton of sends and then leaves without so much as a kiss on my furry little ear. Nevermind. Here is the next yearbook courtesy of Brenda Douglas.
Condita '81
The next yearbook entry is from Jodi Thornton (Nee: Johnston) providing us with a glimpse into the '80s at PEHS. She has several more on the way. Posted 15 June 02.
Condita '84
Jodi Thornton (Nee: Johnston) strikes again! Unfortunately the print quality of this yearbook is quite poor. Posted 20 June 02.
Condita '85
Jodi is at it again. The largest yearbook to date. For sheer enthusiasm this is a great yearbook to look through. Posted 15 July 02.
Related Brat Sites
Hemer High School in Germany
This is Dave Larke's site. He was in Shilo from 1958 to 1960 Grades 8 and 9. The site is for those that attended Hemer High. Have a peek!
Lahr Brats
And for those of you that lived in Deutschland for a time and are looking for friends there this is the place to go. Kim, who runs that site, has been very helpful getting this site up and running. Thanks Kim!!!
Baden Remembered
We,ve got German BratPacks coming out of our ears! This one was sent in by Joe Schiller and is for those from Baden. A very nice site.
Army Brats
An amazing site with listings of hundreds of us from bases all across Canada. This is well worth a look. I found friends there that I have not seen since I was 10 years old. (I was 10 once? Holey!)
Otterlimits
This is my personal web site. It is graphics heavy so if you have a slower 'puter and are on dial up it may take a while to load. Some of my paintings and poetry, and digital art by some of my cyber friends.
Shilobrats Legal resource Page
Life can get pretty complex at times. Occasions arise when legal services are required. This is Doug Jordan's site and he offers legal services to ex-Shilo types at dirt cheap prices if you still live in Manitoba.
Canadian Military Brats
For those of you that still use IRC and newsgroups, here is a brat site that Bill Brown provided to me.
Canadian Airforce Brats site
Here's a great little site if you had truck and trade with air force types. (We all remember CFB Rivers!) Alan MacLeod has graciously linked our site to his, so it's only fair to return the favour. A pretty extensive site and very well done too.
Fort Henry Heights Reunion
The train keeps on rolling. Bill Brown adds this site. You may remember him as a real shaker and mover at creating the wonderful teen dances we had at the YPA. Well he's still at it and this time it's a reunion. Check it out!
Really Incredible Stuff
Proof positive that Americans are so wealthy they can persue any dream they wish. This site deals with the construction of five fully operational Me-262 jet fighters. These are not toys or garage planes. They are being so painstakingly produced that they are being assigned werk numbers from the final production runs from 1945. The first one is now undergoing flight trials and the second is nearing completion. If you have a mind to, these can be purchased for a mere 2 million dollars without engines or instruments. Just an incredible project!
Communications Programs
Pal Talk
A nifty little communication program that allows you to chat in real time using text, voice and video. You can use all three at the same time too. Also allows FTP (file transfer protocol) and PC to phone to anywhere in the world as well as send short off-line messages. This one is really easy to learn and use and is not as invasive to your hard drive like MSN is. You can also create locked, passworded rooms so that only your friends can enter (I can't believe how many idiots own 'puters!) If you load it up, add Otterkins to your Pal List.
YaHoo
Everyone knows about YaHoo I think. This one does all the same things as Paltalk does and a bit more besides. The nice thing about this one is that you can go invisible, close it out and it will minimise to your tool bar beside the clock. I leave it running whenever I am at the 'puter (which is most of the time) so that I can get off-line messages the instant anyone sends them to me. With over half a million sites, divided into more than 25,000 categories, Yahoo! is both browseable and searchable. I am Otterkins2 in YaHoo.
ICQ
Although this is rather archaic and does not have real time chat features as far as I know, there are two things about it that make it a usefull program. First of all, it is the most widely known and used of all the communication programs. Nearly everybody has it. Secondly, it has an FTP system that rarely fails and is actually pretty fast.
Neat Free Stuff
Freeservers
The old Shilo site was built using the tools provided by this server. You don't have to know HTML to build your own site but it will help you later on down the road. It's as easy as point, click and replace their stuff with your stuff which is a lot cooler than their stuff anyways. If you need help doing this, I can send you a help file by e-mail or I can teach you on line by voice while you are actually working on the site.
Spyware-Search and Destroy
The practice of bundling hidden software in downloads is probably the most immoral practice I have ever heard of and should be made illegal. So far the government has failed to do so because of the amount of money that is generated by tracking your movements on the net and reporting them back to a 'Bot Server so that you can be targeted for merchandising. This program is a free download from the University of Dortmund. It is by far the easist to learn and use out of all the programs like this that I have tried. It reads your hard dive and flags all the spyware and adware secretly loaded up (you are going to be some angy about MSN and Gatorware). Then select "fix" and the program automatically deletes all spy and adware. In those cases where the file is needed to run the actual program, it replaces them with a dummy folder so that the program will continue to function properly. YaHoo Instant Messenger users will be pleased to know that YaHoo does not practice this filthy tactic and is totally clean.
Pop-up Killer
Pop-ups are probably the most disghusting thing ever fobbed off on net users. They can get so bad you get trapped in loops forcing you into a hard shut down in order to stop the pops. This free program stops a good percentage of these before they even load and because you are not downloading the garbage your site will download faster. Although the site says this program is now defunct YOU CAN STILL DOWNLOAD THE EXE FOR IT. I suggest you do that NOW before they pull it off the site completely. Your alternative is to get the EXE from me, or to get "Zero Popup" from CNET which is a shareware program that will cost you.
First Page 2000
A really excellent text editor for building web pages. Markup shows in a different colour from the actual text and many other very helpful features.
Edit Pad
Throw out Word Pad and Note Book. This program can do the same thing as both of them combined and do it ten times better. Way more options and considering its very small size it is really quite remarkable. It is not shareware or freeware. The author calls it "postcardware" and asks as payment a postcard showing a scene from the area you live in. He collects postcards you see.....
